Steam Shovel - Restored
23 HOURS
LABOR INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING-

Complete disassembly -every
part was removed, many spot welds were drilled out, every rivet removed
-
All large
parts were sandblasted - all small parts were media blasted
-
All parts were
cleaned with a metal prep agent & placed in coats of heavy fill primer
-
All natural
metal parts (springs, axles, gears, etc.) were beadblasted, wirewheeled &
clearcoated
-
All dings &
dents were straightened; all pits were hand filled with bodyfiller &
sanded down several times between addt'l. primer coats
-
All parts were
wet sanded, tacked & painted with automotive paint & an added wet look
hardener -3 matched original colors
-
Everything was
re-assembled, new correct decals added & new correct period cotton cord
was strung to work like original
The shovel
measures 31.5" with boom fully extended, 14" high & 6.5" wide at the
shovel base. Turn the crank handle to raise the boom. Once it's parallel
with the ground, continue to turn the crank handle to extend the boom.
Once it's fully extended, the shovel door cord releases the door & drops
the load. Press the release lever & the spring loaded boom returns to its
original position, lowers itself & gravity shuts & latches the shovel
door.
